The aim of the anti-sligshot campaign is to create an awareness on the importance of birds. Birds fulfill an essential function in ecosystems, a function that acquires a vital dimension nowadays since they are natural predators of the mosquito that transmit dengue, an illness that shows an increasing incidence in Paraguay. Studies performed in Costa Rica indicate that the extremely high deforestation rate is the main cause of such rises since forests disappear along with countless natural enemies of mosquitoes as for instance bats, spiders, frogs and birds
The ANTI SLINGSHOT campaign is supported by BIRDWATCHER INTERNATIONAL OF ROTARY INTERNATIONAL and HAND IN HAND UMWELTHILFE DEUTSCHLAND.
During 6 months was made a massive Radio and Internet Campaign in Paraguay. In the inside of the country the campaign continued with posters and signs referring the campaign Anti-Sligshot.
