Campesino Senda

This project focuses specifically on the development of rural women, providing them means to generate a small additional income from their own homes through the sale of products from their vegetable gardens, of trees from their nurseries and of the loofah vegetable sponge. Additionally, the project includes the creation of a Community Fund to be used in the performance of basic tasks specific for each locality, such as for instance the construction or improvement of schools or health centers, road repairs, etc. The ultimate aim is to promote each locality's self development, in particular as concerns the following sectors:

ECONOMY: each participating family's economic growth through the sale of forest nursery products.

EDUCATION: the construction, improvement or equipment of schools, through the Community Fund of each Senda. Results: schools improved: 8; schools built : 1 (Tatanga Mani).

HEALTH: Improvement of health in general, through the construction or improvement of health centers. Results: the infrastructure of Cecilio Baez's Health Center was improved considerably as well as that of Coronel Oviedo's Regional Hospital and several Health centers located in rural areas.

ECOLOGY: more than 250,000 trees were planted, and several reforestation projects were successfully carried out.
